Well I didn't think this would be my first real blog post but you have to write when you're inspired, right?

This morning we were sitting at a truck stop between campsites because Rob was hungry and he also had to do some work. While he ran into the truck stop to grab some milk for his cereal, I was sitting in the passenger seat with my legs propped up on the dash playing on my phone. I looked down and quickly realized it was time to shave if I planned to wear shorts today.

Let me be real with you for a second. I'm not a fan of shaving. I shave as little as necessary to get through life. At home in Oklahoma City, that wasn't a huge issue. I wore pants most days - even in the summer. At night I might walk around the house with shorts on but I rarely cared how much I needed to shave. Since living in the RV and being on the road in warmer climates, I've found myself shaving more frequently. Since I have no corporate job to dress up for, I find myself in shorts most days. Therefore, the need for shaving has increased.

Unfortunately, shaving in an RV can be difficult. The shower isn't big enough to shave unless I work on my flexibility and become a contortionist. That's not happening. I can, however, sit on the toilet, prop my leg up on the wall and shave my legs there. The difficult part about that is that the sink is on the opposite side so there's no way to use water and shaving cream in that scenario.

Let's rewind. A couple of years ago, in our bricks and sticks house, I discovered the art of shaving with coconut oil. You don't need water. You can shave anywhere. You just need coconut oil, your razor and a paper towel. Rob would always laugh at me because he would come home to find me sitting in random places, shaving my legs.

Let me tell you - that little trick has become incredibly useful in the RV. I can sit in the bathroom, prop my leg up on the wall and shave with coconut oil with no issues. I don't need any water. I don't need any shaving cream. I don't end up with razor burn like I would if I tried to dry shave.

And the bathroom isn't the only place I shave my legs. Rob walks in to me shaving at the dining room table, in the toy hauler and even in the passenger seat with my legs propped up on the dash. You can only imagine the looks I've gotten from people driving through an RV park or truck stop. Looks aside, shaving with coconut oil has been my answer to shaving in the RV. Try it and let me know what you think! Or let me know what method you use. I'm sure my method isn't the only one - it's just the one that works for me.
